Health Insurance History
Hugh the Elder Chamberlen proposed the concept of health insurance in 1964. The accident insurance became available by the late 19th century. It was similar to the disability insurance of modern days. It was during the middle to late 20th century, when health insurance came into existence. It covered not only accidents, but also preventive, routine and emergency health care procedures. In some cases, insurance even covers prescription drugs.
